Free circus skills session for people over 55 at Morton Community Centre, part of Belfast's Positive Ageing Month programme.
Ageility Circus Skills is coming to Morton Community Centre on Friday 30 October, a circus skills session specifically for over 55s. It's a hands-on class rather than a performance, so you'll be the one learning the tricks rather than watching them from a seat. If you've never thought of yourself as the circus type, that's exactly who this is for — it's about picking up something new and having a go at it with a group of people in the same boat.
The session is part of Positive Ageing Month, a programme of free events and activities running across Belfast throughout October. It's put together by the city council alongside Age-Friendly partners, and it's aimed at older adults. The council frames Belfast as an age-friendly city committed to helping older residents live happier, healthier lives with plenty of opportunities for connection, and this is one of the ways they're putting that into practice.
Circus skills is just one strand of the wider programme. Over the course of the month, there's a broad mix on offer: wellness and fitness, arts and crafts, talks and tours, music and dance, social get-togethers, film screenings, and digital and tech support. If you're interested in more than just the circus side of things, there's plenty else to look at across the city.
