ZZ Top are playing Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with Mike 'The Drifter' Flanigin joining them. They're known as 'That Little Ol' Band From Texas,' and they've been playing rock, blues, and boogie for over half a century. Their iconography is as distinctive as their sound: the beards, the hotrod cars, the spinning guitars, and that magic keychain.

They came together in Houston in the waning days of 1969, pulling from the core of Billy Gibbons' Moving Sidewalks and Frank Beard and Dusty Hill's American Blues. Their 1973 album Tres Hombres brought them national attention with the hit 'La Grange,' and their 1983 album Eliminator became a Diamond-certified, MTV-driven phenomenon with 'Sharp Dressed Man' and 'Legs.' They've since been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and designated Heroes of The State of Texas, with hundreds of millions of records sold.

The lineup of Gibbons, Hill, and Beard held for over 50 years until Dusty's passing; Elwood has handled bass duties since the summer of 2021. The band describes their internal mantra as 'Tone, Taste and Tenacity.'
