Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

The Milwood Classics Book Club is diving into Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte on Tuesday, July 21, at the Austin Public Library Milwood Branch. It's a book club discussion, so the whole point is to sit down with other readers and talk through the novel—the moors, the obsession, and everything in between—rather than just reading it in silence. If you've already finished the book, it's a chance to hear how other people read it; if you're still working your way through, it's a good excuse to get it done by the 21st.

There are a few things to keep in mind before you head over. The Milwood Classics is an adults-only group, so it's for ages 18 and up. You also need to register in advance to take part, so don't just show up and hope for a seat—get your name on the list first.

The venue itself has a bit of a story. The Milwood Branch opened on July 26, 1997, after years of community advocacy: back in the mid-1980s, concerned citizens and neighborhood organizations lobbied for a library in far North Austin, and voters eventually approved the funds in the 1992 bond election. The 8,266-square-foot facility sits on more than seven acres of wooded land and features Lori Norwood's sculpture Learning to Fly, part of the Austin Art in Public Places program.

The discussion runs from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, July 21, at the Austin Public Library Milwood Branch, 12500 Amherst Dr, Austin (Council District 7). It's free to attend.
