A Halloween-themed musical comedy variety show with burlesque, drag, and professional dancers, featuring original songs and sketches.
Fallout Theatre is bringing Welcome to Terror Terrace to their stage at 616 Lavaca Street in downtown Austin, running from Thursday, October 29 through Sunday, November 1. It's a full seven-show run, so you've got a few nights to choose from if you can't make the opening.
The show is a Halloween-themed musical comedy variety act with a sexy, throwback flair. The loose plot follows a group of monster tenants who discover their landlord plans to sell their decrepit apartment building—which he's billing as downtown Austin's newest 'luxury' 'highrise' 'apartment,' complete with a pool of blood, ghosts, goblins, ghouls, and an in-unit washer/dryer. It's the kind of premise that works best when played for laughs, and the variety format lets it lean into the absurdity.
On stage, that variety comes in the form of original songs and sketches mixed with burlesque, drag, and professional dancers. The whole thing is performed by a full cast of the company's local 'weirdos,' as they call them. It was created by Holly Hart Raiborn and Mimi Meier, and the production was made possible by a City of Austin Elevate grant. Fallout Theatre describes it as their most ambitious show to date.
