Career expo at the University of Texas at Austin where students and alumni can meet recruiters, including the Austin Police Department.
The University of Texas Moody College Career Expo is coming to the Shirley Bird Perry Ballroom on Wednesday, September 30, from 11 AM to 3 PM. It's a career fair open to current students and alumni across all majors, so you don't have to be a Moody College student to walk in and see what's out there. The ballroom is on the third level of the Texas Union, located at 301 W 24th St on the UT Austin campus.
The whole point of the day is to put you in the same room as recruiters from a variety of organizations. You can walk the floor, meet people face-to-face, and get a sense of what different roles actually look like before you ever submit an application. It's one of those events that works best if you go in with a few questions ready, since you'll have the chance to talk through your background and hear about open positions directly from the people who hire for them.
One of the recruiters attending is the Austin Police Department Recruiting Unit. If you've ever thought about a career in law enforcement, this is a good chance to ask them about the process and what they're looking for in new recruits. If you can't make it to the expo but still want to connect, you can reach the APD Recruiting Unit at 512-974-4211.
