A weekly competitive open drag stage where local talent battle for cash prizes, lip sync battles, and audience voting.
The Titty Tournament is back at Oilcan Harry's this Thursday, July 30, as part of the weekly open drag stage presented by Big Tits Bigger Dreams. It's a competitive night for local drag talent: performers battle for cash prizes, and the winners are decided by audience applause and lip-sync battles. If you've never been, that's the core of it—the crowd gets to vote on who takes home the money.
Hosting the night is Brigitte Bandit, an award-winning drag queen, producer, and queer activist based here in Austin. She's become something of a political figurehead for the state's drag community over the last few years. Texas Monthly called her "the Texas drag queen Republicans love to hate," and KUT described her as teaching people about the Texas Legislature right from the club floor, where she's been one of the faces of the movement against performance bans in Texas. So while the night is built around the competition, Bandit brings a specific kind of energy to the mic.
Because it's an open stage, the lineup changes from week to week, and you'll see a mix of local drag performers coming through to compete for the cash. The applause-based voting means the room plays a part in who comes out on top, and the lip-sync battles are how the winners are decided. It's a regular fixture on the Austin drag calendar, so if you're looking for a night that's more about the local scene than a polished headliner, this is a good place to start.
