The Princess Diaries + The Princess Diaries 2

The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement are playing back-to-back at Stateside at the Paramount on Sunday, August 9, as part of the Paramount Summer Classic Film Series. It's a double feature that puts both family films on the big screen together, starting at 2 PM.

Both were directed by Garry Marshall and star Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway. The first one, The Princess Diaries (2001, 115 minutes), follows Mia Thermopolis, a teenager who discovers she's the heir to the throne of the fictional kingdom of Genovia. The second, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004, 113 minutes), picks up where the first left off, with Mia preparing for her coronation.

Along with Andrews and Hathaway, the first film features Hector Elizondo, Heather Matarazzo, Mandy Moore, Sandra Oh, and Robert Schwartzman. The second brings in Callum Blue, John Rhys-Davies, and Chris Pine. Between the two, you're looking at nearly four hours of movie, so it's a full afternoon in the theater.

The screening is at Stateside at the Paramount, 713 Congress Ave, in downtown Austin. It kicks off at 2 PM on Sunday, August 9.
