A video karaoke experience built for punk and indie rock fans, with onscreen lyrics and a stage to belt out classics from bands like Black Flag, Modest Mouse and the Pixies.
The Karaoke Underground is back at Hole in the Wall on Monday, August 10, with Gold Leather and Cheeky Orange on the bill. It's a video karaoke night built for punk and indie rock fans: lyrics on screen, a stage, and the chance to belt out classics from Black Flag, Modest Mouse, the Misfits, Cat Power, the Pixies, Dead Kennedys, Sleater-Kinney, Pavement, Rilo Kiley, Joy Division, Fugazi, Guided By Voices, Wilco, Belle & Sebastian, and Big Black. If you're more of a Modest Mouse person than a Black Flag person, or a Cat Power fan rather than a Dead Kennedys fan, you'll find your ground here.
The night has been staged at Matador 21 and Fun Fun Fun Fest, and it's picked up mentions in The Village Voice, Noisey, Consequence Of Sound, and BuzzFeed among others. The full songlist lives at karaokeunderground.com, so you can see exactly what's on the menu before you decide which one to take on.
