If you're not familiar with the company, The Baron's Men is a small, independently funded community theater that has been producing Early Modern theatre in Austin for 27 years, devoted to researching Elizabethan theater and staging plays from that period. This production is set in the Late Renaissance. It's one of Shakespeare's early comedies, and the company describes it as showing his early mastery of witty banter, disguise, and fast-paced comedy—the kind of writing that prefigures his later hits like Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth.
The play itself is one of the more well-known from the early years, and seeing it staged by a company that focuses specifically on that era gives it a bit more context than your average production.
