The Paramount Theatre presents its Summer Classic Film Series at the State Theatre, featuring classic films on 35mm and IMAX.
The Paramount Theatre is bringing back its Summer Classic Film Series, running from May 22 through August 30, 2026. For over 50 years, the series has been a favorite summer rite for movie lovers in Austin, and this year it's returning with 14 35mm prints, special guests, and a first for the series: IMAX presentations on the biggest screen in Texas at the Bullock Museum IMAX Theatre.
There's a reason the venues are shifting this year. The Paramount, the series' usual home, closed in mid-June for its first major renovation in more than half a century—an eight-to-nine-month full restoration intended to secure the future of both the Paramount and the State Theatre for the next hundred years. While that work continues, the films are being screened across the city instead. You'll find them at the State Theatre (719 Congress, Austin Downtown), the Hyperreal Film Club (301 Chicon, Austin Lower East), and the Bullock Museum IMAX Theatre.
The opening weekend sets the tone with Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, Rear Window, and Mulholland Drive. From there, the series stretches across the summer, with the 35mm prints and IMAX screenings spread among the three venues. If you're a Film Fan Club member, you get an exclusive presale window for the IMAX screenings, discounted tickets, and free popcorn at Paramount and State screenings.

Tickets are $15 regular, available online or at the box office, which includes a $3 preservation fee. For the Family Series, children 12 and under are $9, and Film Fan Club members pay $11. There's also a double feature option—one ticket for both films—if you're planning to settle in for a long day at the cinema.
