A night of live music and art presented by The Lovers Collective and Underground Voices, featuring local talent and live art performances.
The Lovers Collective and Underground Voices are putting on a showcase called Sounds in Color at Flamingo Cantina on Friday, August 21. It's billed as a one-night-only event that pairs live music with a live art performance running throughout the night, so you'll have something to watch even when the stage goes quiet.
On the music side, the lineup brings together four local names: The Loop, Caleb Lemons, T-Lo, and Blue Tongue. They'll be sharing the bill, each taking their turn on stage. The art side is handled by Ashley Metro, who'll be working live in the room while the music goes on around her. Between the sets, you can watch the piece come together in real time.
Flamingo Cantina is at 515 East 6th Street, and it's been a fixture on Sixth Street since 1991. It's also home to Dreadneck Wednesdays, the Mau Mau Chaplains' weekly reggae series, which they call the best regular reggae and ska show in town and the only place to be on a Wednesday night on Sixth Street. This showcase is a different kind of night for the venue, though—a one-off pairing of music and art rather than a weekly residency.

The show runs from 7 PM to 2 AM, so it's a long one that stretches well into the early hours. Tickets are $15, and the night is for ages 21 and over.
