A music industry event where emerging artists receive career guidance and feedback from a panel of industry leaders, followed by a networking mixer.
Sound & Vision returns to Antone's on Saturday, September 5, for the second half of a two-day artist development event. The first day, Friday, September 4, fills the downstairs room with a live showcase by four emerging artists selected from nearly 100 applicants by a panel of industry leaders. On Saturday, those same four finalists move upstairs for the roundtable consultations, where they get career guidance and constructive feedback from that same panel. The afternoon continues with a moderated industry discussion, an audience Q&A, and an award presentation, and closes with a networking mixer. KUTX Hall of Fame inductee Laurie Gallardo hosts the session, and the whole weekend is presented by Daydream Believer Creative with support from the City of Austin's Live Music Fund.
The panel consists of Tommy Borscheid of The Orchard/Sony Music, Ralph Torrefranca of Angry Mob Music, Emmy Black of Bar/None Records, and Evelyn Gómez Rivera of SXSW. Because the audience is right there for the discussion and the Q&A, you get to hear first hand how these professionals discover talent, develop artists, and build careers. It's a rare look at the industry side of things that usually stays behind closed doors.
