Six Days in Bombay

Alka Joshi is the focus of a book club discussion at the Austin Public Library Milwood Branch on Monday, July 27, from 6:45 to 7:45 PM. The group will be talking through Six Days in Bombay, and the session is open to everyone, so you don't need to be a regular member to pull up a chair and join in.

It's part of the Milwood Monday Night Book Club, which meets monthly at the branch. If you're not familiar with the spot, the Milwood Branch is in Council District 7, at 12500 Amherst Drive. It opened on July 26, 1997, after years of advocacy from neighborhood organizations that started back in the mid-1980s and finally came together when voters approved the funds in the 1992 bond election. The facility is 8,266 square feet and sits on more than seven acres of wooded land, so it's a bit of a retreat from the surrounding city. Outside, you'll find Lori Norwood's sculpture Learning to Fly, part of the Austin Art in Public Places program.
