Beginner-friendly workshop to assemble and solder a unique mushroom stained glass suncatcher. All materials included.
Contracommon is hosting Sip + Solder Mushrooms 2, a stained glass workshop at Meanwhile Brewing Co on Tuesday, August 25. It's part of their Sip + Solder series, and this one is all about mushrooms. Over three hours, you'll assemble and solder your own mushroom-shaped stained glass suncatcher, and you'll pick up the basics of lead-came construction and soldering techniques along the way. No experience is necessary—they provide pre-cut glass shapes to choose from, so you don't have to worry about the cutting part. When it's finished, you can hang it as a suncatcher or use it as a garden stake.
Local artist and teacher Deke Cameron leads the class. Contracommon is a local non-profit that promotes the arts and emerging artists, and this project is supported in part by an Elevate Grant from Austin Arts, Culture, Music, & Entertainment. The session is open to ages 14 and up, with minors supervised by a participating parent or guardian.
