Silo Road are back at The White Horse on Sunday, July 26, for their long-running Sunday night residency. It's a regular fixture for them, and this one runs from 7:30 PM to 1 AM, so there's plenty of room to settle in.
If you haven't caught them before, Silo Road is an Austin-based honky-tonk, Americana, and Texicana band. They play classic Texas dancehall music with a modern edge, built on twangy guitars, rich harmonies, and a mix of traditional country, outlaw, and roots-rock influences. Rather than chasing mainstream country trends, they stick to the authentic sounds of Texas dance halls, performing a blend of original songs and carefully chosen covers. The set is designed for dancing, and that's exactly what happens on the floor.
They've made a home out of this Sunday night slot at The White Horse, an East Austin honky-tonk that opened in December 2011 and helped expand the Eastside music scene. The venue has a low-set stage, and on busy nights the dance floor fills up with a multi-generational crowd, which can make it tough to see the singer from the back. But even from the cheap seats, you're part of it—the kind of night where the dancing is the main event and the music keeps it moving.
