Concert by Shinyribs, a swampy soul and blues supergroup from Austin, at the 04 Center.
Shinyribs play The 04 Center on Wednesday, November 18, 2026. It's a single-bill night with the Austin-based group as the only act on the program.
Shinyribs is an eight-piece soul group fronted by Kevin Russell, a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Beaumont, Texas, who spent years as a member of The Gourds. His writing and performing draw on the roots music of the Gulf Coast, and the band has built its following around that sound. With eight people on stage, it's a full ensemble rather than a small combo, and the set is built on that swampy, soul-leaning approach they've made their own.
If you're familiar with The Gourds, you know the Texas roots side of Russell's background. Shinyribs takes that in a different direction, trading the acoustic-driven sound for a larger, soul-inflected arrangement. The Gulf Coast influence is the common thread, and it's what anchors the band's sound. With eight musicians, there's a lot of room for the horns and the rhythm section to breathe, and the whole thing is fronted by Russell's songwriting.
