Texas Music Legends Shake Russell and Dana Cooper reunite for an intimate evening of Texas Americana and folk rock at The 04 Center.
Shake Russell and Dana Cooper are playing The 04 Center on Thursday, November 5 and Friday, November 6, reuniting on stage for an evening of Texas Americana and folk rock. They're longtime collaborators who first met in Houston in the late 1970s, when they formed a band that got plenty of local radio play and appeared on Austin City Limits. Their album Songs On The Radio was recorded at Houston's KLOL.
Both have spent more than 50 years recording. Cooper signed with Elektra Records in the 1970s and put out a self-titled debut in 1972, backed by the LA session group The Section, which included Leeland Sklar and Russ Kunkel. He's released more than 30 albums since, including The Ghost of Tucumcari, voted #1 Album of 2024 on the Americana Highways Readers Poll, with guest vocals from Lyle Lovett, Hayes Carll, Susan Gibson, Shake Russell, Darden Smith, Mando Saenz, and Libby Koch. Russell, a Texas Music Legend, has also put out more than 30 albums over his 50-plus year career, from 1978's Songs on the Radio to the recent Gold To Me.
