The 35th anniversary of Sara Hickman's album Shortstop, performed by her original touring band, with special guests King Bingo.
Sara Hickman plays The 04 Center on Saturday, October 17, for the 35th anniversary of Shortstop, her second album. She's not doing it alone: the original touring band that backed her on Austin City Limits and The Tonight Show is reuniting for the night. That lineup puts Debra Tala on keyboards and vocals, Mike Daane on bass, Brad McLemore on guitar, and Brian Hartig on drums. Tala co-wrote the hit "I Couldn't Help Myself" with Hickman, so the two of them will be back on stage together for that one.
Opening the bill is King Bingo, the former Dallas duo of Sandy Abernethy, now in Seattle, and Bill Seely, now in New York. They played regularly during the city's heyday in the 1990s, so this puts two different eras of the local scene on the same bill. The main set runs from 8 PM to 10:30 PM, with doors opening at 7 PM.
