Caroline Hale plays Pershing Hall on Saturday, August 29, with Sam Williams sharing the bill. It's a double bill that brings together two songwriters from different corners of the country on one Austin stage.
Williams is a Nashville country singer-songwriter with a family tree that runs deep in the genre: he's the grandson of Hank Williams and the son of Hank Jr. He's played the Grand Ole Opry and CMA Fest, and he contributed the song "Carnival Heart" to Cirque's Songblazers. Hale, on the other hand, is a San Antonio native now based here in Austin. She blends pop songwriting with country, folk, and classic rock — a mix she calls "Twang Pop." She was mentored by engineer and songwriter Martin Strayer and has worked with producer Gordy Quist.
Between the two, you've got a Nashville country lineage and a San Antonio-born pop-country blend meeting in the middle. Williams brings the country tradition of the Opry and the CMA Fest; Hale brings her Twang Pop sound, rooted in folk and classic rock. It's a night that leans into that country-pop intersection from two different angles.
