A night of American roots music featuring Sam Morrow and Jonathan Tyler at The Continental Club.
Sam Morrow plays The Continental Club on Saturday, September 12, starting his set at 10:15 PM. It's a release party for his new studio album, Boogie, so the night centers on the new material. He describes his sound as a mix of roadhouse rock & roll, bluesy R&B, and country-fried funky-tonk, all held together by groove, grease, and guitars. He's built that sound outside of genre and geography, calling it his own version of modern-day American roots music.
Jonathan Tyler takes over the second half of the night, starting at 11:45 PM. He's played Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Hangout Fest, and the Voodoo Experience, performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and toured with AC/DC, ZZ Top, The Black Crowes, and Kid Rock. His 2010 LP Pardon Me, released through Atlantic Records with The Northern Lights, reached No. 8 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart. His first solo release, Holy Smokes, found him working without major-label constraints and writing from a more introspective place. The two sets are billed as a pairing in which the spirit of rock n roll merges with American roots music.

The night runs from 10 PM to 2 AM at The Continental Club, 1315 South Congress Avenue. It's 21+ only, and paid parking applies. Tickets are $25 cash.
