Bluegrass music performance by Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out at the Austin City Limits Live venue.
Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out play Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater on Thursday, September 24, 2026, starting at 8 PM. They've been touring and releasing original bluegrass for more than thirty years, so this is a band that's spent a long time on the road.
Moore spent his early years as a member of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver before forming IIIrd Tyme Out in 1991, a move that helped usher in a new era of youthful, energetic bluegrass. Since then, the band has been named IBMA's Vocal Group of the Year seven times, and Moore is the most-awarded male vocalist in IBMA history, with six awards. They've spent the decades headlining bluegrass festivals and topping the charts with songs like "Moundsville Pen," "Erase The Miles," "John and Mary," "Raining In L.A.," and "I'm Leaving Detroit."
Their latest album, It's About Tyme, produced chart-toppers of its own: "Brown County Red," "I'm Leaving You and Fort Worth Too," and "Cottontown." Between those and the older material, there's a deep catalog to pull from for a single night.
