Annual charity race with 5K, 10-Miler, and Kids K benefiting the Gazelle Foundation, with over 5,000 participants.
Run For The Water returns to 900 W Cesar Chavez St on Sunday, November 8, 2026, for another year of running through downtown Austin. It's an annual charity race put on by the Gazelle Foundation, and it's been a part of the city's November calendar for more than 20 years. Each year, more than 5,000 runners and walkers take to the streets, so it's a big crowd regardless of how fast you move.
There are several distances to choose from. The 5K is the shorter option, and the 10-Miler takes you through downtown and out into the West Austin hills. If you're bringing the kids, there's a Kids K for them. The 10-Miler also includes a 600-meter Hill Challenge sprint for anyone looking to push themselves. If you can't make it in person, there's a virtual Global Run to complete in the week leading up to race day.
Every cent raised goes to the Gazelle Foundation, which funds clean-water projects in Burundi. The foundation works from the belief that clean water offers a path out of poverty, bringing better health, stronger communities, jobs, education, and hope. After two decades, the race's most consistent tradition is that direct link between Austin registrations and clean water in Burundi.
