Rosas Dance Company presents Il Cimento dell'Armonia e dell'Inventione, a dance work on Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, with Fusebox.
Rosas Dance Company will be at the McCullough Theatre on Thursday, April 29, and Friday, April 30, 2027, both nights starting at 7:30 PM. They're performing Il Cimento dell'Armonia e dell'Inventione, a dance work built around Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. It's presented with Fusebox and with the support of Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels.
The piece brings together two choreographers: the celebrated Belgian Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and the Moroccan Radouan Mriziga. Together they've reimagined The Four Seasons, that Baroque masterpiece almost everyone knows, and set it to a recording by violinist Amandine Beyer and her ensemble Gli Incogniti. The work reflects on the beauty of the natural world and our changing relationship to it, blending dance and music into a movement language that returns to the emotional core of Vivaldi's compositions.
If you're familiar with De Keersmaeker, you know her work often finds a deep, structural connection between music and movement, and this is no exception. The recording by Beyer and Gli Incogniti provides the foundation, and the choreography builds from there. It's a collaboration between two choreographers from different backgrounds working on a piece of music that's become a universal reference point, so there's a nice tension between the familiar and the new. The focus stays on the natural world and how we relate to it, which gives the whole thing a grounded, human feel.
