Reservoir Dogs

Reservoir Dogs is coming to the Paramount and Stateside Theatres on Thursday, August 6, as part of the Paramount Summer Classic Film Series. It's Quentin Tarantino's 1992 debut, a 99-minute crime drama that centers on a heist gone horribly wrong.

If you've seen it, you know the setup: a group of criminals who don't know each other are brought together for a job, and when it falls apart, they spend the aftermath trying to figure out who among them is a mole. The cast is a heavy-hitting ensemble of character actors: Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Chris Penn, and Steve Buscemi. It's a movie that spends more time in a warehouse than on the street, relying on sharp dialogue and tension rather than big action set pieces.

When it first came out, critics pointed to its slick style, the clever writing, and a perfectly curated soundtrack. Looking back, it's easy to see why: the elements that eventually made Tarantino a superstar director were there from the start. The whole thing is presented in color and shown as a DCP, so you'll get a clean, theatrical print on the big screen.

Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the show starts at 7:30 PM. It's a Thursday night screening at the State Theatre, part of the Paramount's summer series of classics.
