Late-night live hip hop show with Qwel and Nightwalker headlining, alongside Bad Newz Bexarz, La Cosecha, Ideal Collective and more at Flamingo Cantina.
Qwel and Nightwalker headline a late-night hip hop show at Flamingo Cantina on Friday, October 16, with a full bill of supporting acts. It's a long one: doors open at 9 PM and the night runs through to 2 AM on Saturday morning.
Qwel and Nightwalker take the top spot, and they've got a deep lineup behind them. Bad Newz Bexarz, La Cosecha, and Ideal Collective are all on the bill, along with College of Hip Hop Knowledge, Nick Cruz, Mista Moses, Borne, and GSharp. With that many names on the roster, it's more of a showcase than a single set, so you'll get a good run of different voices throughout the night.
Flamingo Cantina is on East 6th Street, and it's been a fixture there since Angela Tharp opened it in 1991. She calls it the city's 'Good Vibes Headquarters,' and it's a fiercely independent survivor that's spent more than two decades as a sanctuary for music lovers. The venue has built its name on 'good vibes music,' booking live reggae, ska, Latin, and worldbeat alongside rock, hip hop, and alternative. Over the years, Tharp has worked with thousands of artists, including international acts like Afro-Cuban musician Ricardo Lemvo, the Mahotella Queens, and Burning Spear.
