Labor Day weekend party with nonbinary community, beer pong, pop-up drag and beats, free entry, outdoor patio, 18+ until midnight.
Project X: An Enby Bash takes over Cheer Up Charlies on Friday, September 4, starting at 9 PM. It's a nonbinary community party kicking off Labor Day weekend, and the whole thing happens out on the patio. If you're looking for something to do with the holiday weekend ahead, this is a good place to start.
The night is built around a few different things running at once. @deadlao5 is on beats, and alongside the music there's a beer pong tournament, jello shots, and spin the bottle. Pop-up drag will be scattered throughout the night, so you'll get drag performances popping up between the games and the dancing. It's less of a seated show and more of a party where you can drift between the tournament and the dance floor.
For those who haven't spent much time there, Cheer Up Charlies is a vegan bar at 900 Red River, right in downtown Austin. It's known as the "fun, gay uncle of the Red River bar and live music scene," decorated with rainbow art and unicorns. They serve creative cocktails alongside local beers, organic teas, and kombucha. The outdoor limestone-dressed stage has hosted everything from crafts and karaoke to live acts like Peaches and John Legend, and the venue has picked up several Best of Austin Readers Poll awards over the years, including Best LGBTQIA Club, Bar for Singles, and Dance Club.

Because it's on the outdoor patio, the night is 18+ until midnight, so it's an easy spot to bring younger friends before the age limit kicks in. Entry is $3. It starts at 9 PM on Friday, September 4, at Cheer Up Charlies, 900 Red River.
