Pumpkin Nights opens at Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms on Thursday, September 17, bringing a walk-through pumpkin display to the far north side of Austin. The whole thing is built around a half-mile path that takes you through a series of themed lands, each one constructed from more than 5,000 hand-carved pumpkins—a mix of real ones and artificial ones. It's a slow stroll rather than a quick walk, and the scale is what sticks with you: thousands of carved pumpkins lit up across the grounds.
As you move along the path, you'll hit different settings. The Forbidden City is one of them, and Pirate's Cove is another, so you're shifting from one imagined world to the next as you go. Along the way, there's a section called The Village, which is where the entertainment and games are clustered. It's the part of the walk where you can stop and hang out for a bit instead of just keeping on through the displays.
