Monthly reading series by the Writer's League of Texas where five writers read one page from a work in progress, presented by Reverie Books.
The Writers' League of Texas brings another One Page Salon to Radio Coffee & Beer on Tuesday, September 8, at 7:30 PM. The format is the same as always: five writers take the stage in the outdoor space and read exactly one page from a work in progress. It's a monthly series the League puts on in partnership with Reverie Books, and the Austin American-Statesman once called it "the best literary evening in town."
The September lineup brings together four writers from very different corners of the craft. Jennifer duBois comes from the novel side—her debut, A Partial History of Lost Causes, picked up the California Book Award for First Fiction, a Whiting Writers' Award, and a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 Award. She also teaches in the MFA program at Texas State University. Mike Hall is a long-time Texas Monthly writer and a musician who's played in Austin bands like the Wild Seeds and the Setters. Amanda Johnston is the 2024 Texas Poet Laureate and the author of the poetic form known as "the genesis." And Taisia Kitaiskaia is the author of The Nightgown and Other Poems, with fellowships from Yaddo and the James A. Farrell Foundation.

Because everyone reads just one page, you get a glimpse of several different projects in a single night—some might be from novels, some from poetry, some from essays—and you hear them as they're still being worked on. The outdoor setting at Radio Coffee & Beer keeps it casual, so it's as much a social gathering as it is a reading. The series runs on the first Tuesday of every month, and this one kicks off at 7:30 PM.
