Annual chamber music concert with an all-star ensemble, world premiere by Henrique Eisenmann, and cocktail masterclass.
Ensemble ATX takes the stage at The Mansion on Saturday, January 23, for Musical Mixology, the annual chamber music concert put on by ATX Chamber Music and Jazz. The night centers on a world premiere by Henrique Eisenmann, and the music is paired with a cocktail masterclass, so you'll be sipping along while the ensemble plays.
ATX Chamber Music and Jazz is the Austin nonprofit run by co-artistic directors Geoffrey Herd and Anna Petrova. They've been around for a few years now—their inaugural season featured Hiromi at The Paramount—and they describe their approach as drawing on Austin's character to stage innovative, immersive chamber music and jazz performances. The goal they talk about is reinvigorating public interest in those genres while bringing together diverse groups of people. Accessibility is a big part of that: ten percent of their seating capacity is donated to children and their chaperones, and their artists perform for free in Title I schools, youth centers, and retirement homes through their 'Everyone Deserves Art' initiative. This concert is part of their fourth season, which the directors have called their most ambitious undertaking yet.
