Movies in the Park Pride Edition: Death Becomes Her

Movies in the Park kicks off Austin Pride Week at the Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park on Saturday, August 15, with a free outdoor screening of Death Becomes Her. The night is presented in partnership with Austin Pride, and the screening itself is just one part of a full evening that starts well before the movie rolls.

DJ Eriq Stylez holds down the music at 7 PM and again at 8:15 PM, and there are family-friendly activities running throughout the night. At 8 PM, the Regional Pride Roll Call brings Austin Pride and community partners to the stage for remarks and the official Pride Week announcement, where they'll share what's in store leading up to the Austin Pride Parade on Saturday, August 22. The main feature, the 1992 PG-13 comedy Death Becomes Her, follows at 9 PM. Local vendors will be on site with food and drinks.

The Moody Amphitheater is built into the natural fabric of Waterloo Park, and its Great Lawn offers more than 38,000 square feet of grass—enough to comfortably fit up to 5,000 people. Unlike many major entertainment venues, parkgoers can picnic, play or perform on the stage when it's not being used for large-scale concerts produced by the venue's partners, Live Nation Entertainment and C3 Presents. It's a good spot to bring a blanket and settle in for the long haul.

Outside alcohol isn't permitted, and bags are checked upon entry. Street parking and nearby parking garages are available. The whole night is free, starting at 7 PM at 1401 Trinity St. in Waterloo Greenway.
