Monkeys on a String

Monkeys on a String are playing 3Ten Austin City Limits Live on Saturday, July 25, with the show starting at 8 PM. They're a Dave Matthews Band tribute, and if you've never seen them, they're a Texas-based group that's been at this since March 2017, when San Antonio local and singer/musician Alex Cortez put them together. The band is made up of professional musicians who lean into the chemistry and the improvisational solos that define a real Dave Matthews Band show, rather than just playing the songs straight through.

There's a fair amount of detail that goes into the recreation. They tour with their own stage crew and a guitar tech, and they use replica equipment and instruments modeled after what the original band members play. It's a tribute that looks as closely at the gear and the stage setup as it does at the music itself.

The show is at 3Ten Austin City Limits Live, 310 W Willie Nelson Blvd Suite 1A, in downtown Austin. Doors open at 7 PM, and the music starts at 8 PM. Tickets start at $56.
