Modest Mouse with Caroline Rose

Modest Mouse play ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Thursday, October 15, with Caroline Rose opening. It's their first Austin date in a while, and they're coming off a stretch of shows with Pixies and Cat Power, so they've been out on the road and playing regularly.

Much of what they'll be pulling from is The Golden Casket, the album they put out on June 25, 2021, through Epic Records. It was recorded in Los Angeles and in the band's own studio in Portland, with Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee producing. Frontman Isaac Brock wrote it around a few specific things: the degradation of our psychic landscapes, invisible technology, and fatherhood. Those aren't exactly light topics, and they're the kind of things that tend to run through the songs rather than just sitting on the surface.

Caroline Rose opens the night, so you'll get two acts on the bill. Modest Mouse has been one of the more consistent live bands around lately, and they've been keeping busy with those runs alongside Pixies and Cat Power leading up to this. If you've followed them for a while, you know the songs they've built their name on, and The Golden Casket adds to that list.

The show is Thursday, October 15, at ACL Live at The Moody Theater, and it starts at 8 PM.
