Live country music night featuring Missy Beth & The Morning Afters, Jake Penrod, and The Mellows at The White Horse.
Missy Beth & The Morning Afters headline a three-act bill at The White Horse on Tuesday, August 25, with Jake Penrod and the Mellows filling out the rest of the night. The music runs from 7:30 PM to 1:00 AM, and the lineup is spaced out across the evening rather than packed into one set. Missy Beth & The Morning Afters open the night, playing from 8:00 PM to 9:45 PM. Jake Penrod takes over from 10:00 PM to 11:45 PM, and the Mellows close it out, playing from 11:55 PM to 1:55 AM.
If you're not already familiar with the room, The White Horse is a Lower East honky-tonk that opened on Comal in December 2011. It's run by Nathan Hill and Denis O'Donnell, who spent years managing the Hole in the Wall and helped launch modern outlaw country acts like Mike & the Moonpies and Leo Rondeau. The venue has picked up several Best of Austin Awards, including Readers Poll - Best New Bar and Best New Club in 2012, and its Sunday nights have long belonged to the Eastside institution Conjunto Los Pinkys.

Because the sets are staggered, you can catch just one act or hang through all three. Missy Beth & The Morning Afters kick things off early, Jake Penrod handles the middle of the night, and the Mellows keep the music going well past midnight. The show is 21+, and there's a $5 cover at the door. The White Horse is at 500 Comal, Austin, TX 78702.
