Live music session by Matt Hubbard, a multi-instrumentalist known for keyboards, trombone and harmonica, at The Continental Club.
Matt Hubbard plays the Continental Club this Wednesday, September 30, starting at 6:30 PM. He'll be on the Hammond organ, backed by Robb Kidd, Naj Conklin, and Jimmie Dreams on drums, bass, and guitar. It's a full band around him, so the organ won't be doing all the heavy lifting.
Hubbard is a multi-instrumentalist and a longtime Austin resident, known for keyboards, trombone, and harmonica. He's played with a wide range of names over the years: Willie Nelson, 7 Walkers, Wanda Jackson, Ray Price, Robert Hunter, Rickie Lee Jones, Fastball, and Edie Brickell & New Bohemians. He's also put out his own music, including Nobody's Fault but Mine and Live at C-Boy's.
This particular set puts him on the Hammond organ, with Kidd, Conklin, and Dreams filling out the rhythm section. If you've seen him before, you know he's as comfortable on the trombone or harmonica as he is on the keys, but the organ is the focus here. It's a local musician playing a local room, with a band that's been part of the city's scene for a long time.
