Marley Hale and the Sentimental Family Band are playing The White Horse on Thursday, July 30, and the night is built around the dance floor. It's a long one, running from 7 PM through 1 AM, with the music shifting gears as the evening goes on.
Marley Hale opens the night, playing from 7 to 8 PM. After that, the Sentimental Family Band takes over from 8 to 9:45 PM. Once the bands have had their say, the focus shifts entirely to the floor: Dancing Austin Two-Step runs from 10 PM to 11:45 PM. If you're coming for the music, you can be out by 10; if you're coming to dance, the real work starts then.
The White Horse, on Austin's Lower East, opened on Comal in December 2011 as the honky-tonk venue of Nathan Hill and Denis O'Donnell, whose days managing the Hole in the Wall helped launch modern outlaw country acts like Mike & the Moonpies and Leo Rondeau. Sundays there belong to the Eastside institution Conjunto Los Pinkys. The venue's low-set stage and often-packed, multi-generational dancing crowd make it hard to see the singer on busy nights, but even from the cheap seats it's clear that visitors have tapped into Austin's age-old ethos.

It's a $10 cover at the door. The music starts at 7 PM, the dancing kicks in at 10 PM, and the whole thing wraps up by 1 AM.
