Lunch and Learn session with humorist Bill Padgett sharing humorous stories about his sports officiating experiences, including college baseball, football and youth leagues.
Bill Padgett is taking the stage at the Austin Woman's Club on Thursday, August 20, for a Lunch and Learn session titled All You Want to Know About Sports Officiating But Were Afraid to Ask! The session runs from 11:30 AM to 1 PM, so it's a midday thing rather than an evening outing. It's presented by Chateau Bellevue, and Padgett is a familiar face around the club—described as an Austin Woman's Club favorite spouse.
Padgett is a humorist who builds his set from his years as a sports official. He's worked college baseball and football, Texas high school and youth league play, and spent a couple of years on the youth soccer pitch. He tells those stories with a wink, and the whole afternoon is built around them. The storytelling is broken up by two short videos, and the second half is a lengthy Q&A session where the audience gets to ask exactly what they've always wondered about the people in stripes. If you've ever wanted to know what it's like on the other side of the whistle, this is your chance to get the inside story.

The session is held at the Austin Woman's Club, 708 San Antonio St. in downtown Austin. Tickets are $30 for AWC members and their guests, and $45 for non-members. It runs from 11:30 AM to 1 PM, so you'll be out by lunch.
