A 5K or 10K run and walk benefiting Livestrong's cancer support services, with a family-friendly atmosphere and survivor recognition.
Livestrong is bringing the Run for the Roses to Auditorium Shores on Sunday, October 18. It's the signature fundraising event for the LIVESTRONG Foundation, and it works as much as a fundraiser as a day out. You get to choose between a 5K or 10K route and move at your own pace, and families are encouraged to come along. The course finishes at Auditorium Shores, where every cancer survivor is honored with a yellow rose to mark their journey. All proceeds go toward Livestrong's cancer support services.
Because you pick your distance, it's an easy one to scale to whatever you're feeling that morning. If you're in the mood for a full 6.2 miles, you can take the 10K; if you'd rather keep it to 3.1, the 5K is there. And since you move at your own pace, it's as much about getting out there as it is about the time on the clock. Bringing the family along is part of the day, so it's not just for the runners in the group.
The whole thing wraps up at Auditorium Shores, which is where the yellow roses come in. Every cancer survivor who crosses the finish line gets one to mark their journey, and that's the moment the event really centers on. The funds raised from the day go back into Livestrong's cancer support services, so the run does more than just get you moving.
