An evening of live music and storytelling about American folk rock songwriters, led by bandleader Brian Chartrand, covering classics from the 1960s and 70s.
Live from Laurel Canyon comes to ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Thursday, December 10, 2026, at 8 PM. It's an evening of live music and storytelling about the American folk rock songwriters who lived within a few winding miles of each other in the Los Angeles hills and, between the mid-1960s and the late 1970s, rewrote American popular music.
Bandleader Brian Chartrand guides the night, connecting the songs to the artists' lives, houses, feuds, and friendships through multimedia projections and the stories behind them. The show celebrates the American folk rock scene of the 1960s and 70s, reinterpreting classics by artists like Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Jackson Browne, and Linda Ronstadt. It's more than a tribute act: the music is the thread that ties together the history of a specific place and a specific era.
The set covers a wide stretch of that scene. You'll hear songs by The Mamas & The Papas, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, The Doors, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Neil Young, James Taylor, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, America, and the Eagles. That's a lot of ground for one night, and the storytelling is what holds it together, filling in the gaps between the songs with the personal details that connect these names.
