Live country music night featuring three local Austin bands at The White Horse.
Libby & The Loveless head up a three-band bill at The White Horse on Thursday, August 27, with Sentimental Family Band and All My Groovy Friends filling out the rest of the night. The music runs from 7 PM through 1:45 AM, so it's a long one that stretches well past midnight.
Libby & The Loveless take the first slot, playing from 8 PM to 9:45 PM. Sentimental Family Band follows them from 10 PM to 11:45 PM, and All My Groovy Friends close it out from 11:55 PM to 1:45 AM. If you're only sticking around for the headliner, you'll be in and out before 10; if you stay for the whole run, you're looking at nearly six hours of live music.
The venue is The White Horse, 500 Comal, in East Austin. It opened in December 2011 when co-owners Nathan Hill and Denis O'Donnell carried on the honky-tonk tradition, drawing on their time managing the Hole in the Wall. Since then, it's helped establish modern outlaw country acts like Mike & the Moonpies and Leo Rondeau. Sundays have long belonged to Eastside institution Conjunto Los Pinkys, and the room's low-set stage and packed, multi-generational crowd of dancers make it a vivid expression of Austin's age-old ethos.
