A live album party featuring the Beastie Boys' 90s discography, where 100% of ticket sales support local Austin nonprofits.
Interplanetary Help Desk is bringing a Beastie Boys album party to Mohawk on Thursday, August 20, from 6 PM to 9 PM. It's part of their Let's Fund Good! summer series, which pairs six live concerts and six album parties to support 24 local Austin nonprofits. The whole thing works as a fundraiser: 100% of ticket sales go to the participating organizations, and you get to decide which one your ticket supports.
The night is aimed at fans of the '90s, with the Beastie Boys' albums blasted over the speakers loud and unapologetic. License to Ill, Paul's Boutique, and Check Your Head will be played in full, with selections from Ill Communications, Hello Nasty, and To the 5 Boroughs mixed in. It's a full run through the catalog, from the early days to the later records, all played back-to-back.
Every week we pick ๐ the 5 best ๐ things to do in Austin and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

Since it's an album party rather than a live band, the music comes from the records themselves, not a stage performance. The venue is Mohawk on Red River, and the night is open to all ages. Tickets are $10, and since every cent goes to a local nonprofit, you're paying for the cause as much as the music. The party runs from 6 PM to 9 PM on Thursday, August 20, at Mohawk, 912 Red River Street.
