Book signing with Krystal Duran for her book 'More Than Just a Plant' at BookPeople, featuring a conversation with Dr. Pooja Lakshmin.
Krystal Duran is coming to BookPeople on Sunday, November 29, for a conversation about her new book, More Than Just a Plant: How to Care for Your Plants as They Care for You. If you know her as PlantswithKrystal, you've probably seen her across your social feedsโshe's a houseplant educator and content creator with a community of more than 4 million followers. The whole point of her work is treating houseplants as living companions rather than just dรฉcor, and this book follows that same line, mixing practical plant care with personal stories about resilience, healing, and self-care.
She won't be on her own for the talk. Joining her is Dr. Pooja Lakshmin, a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in women's mental health. Lakshmin wrote Real Self-Care, which was an NPR Best Book of 2023, and she's a clinical assistant professor at George Washington University School of Medicine. Having a psychiatrist on stage with a plant educator tells you exactly where this conversation is headed: the intersection of caring for your greenery and taking care of yourself.
