Kittypalooza

Kittypalooza stops at the Central Branch Library on Thursday, August 13, from 4 PM to 8 PM. It's part of Austin Animal Services' outreach program, which works to reduce shelter intake in targeted zip codes, provide humane education and prevention-based intervention, and build community partnerships through events, classes and presentations. The tour moves to different locations across the Austin area, so this is one of several stops you can catch around town.

At this stop, you can meet adoptable kittens and find out how to support the city's shelter during kitten season. If you've been thinking about adding a cat to your home, this is a good place to see who's available. If you're not in a position to adopt, there are other ways to help the shelter while the kittens are coming in faster than they can find homes.

Austin Resource Recovery is also running a booth at the event, focusing on waste, recycling and composting as they relate to pet supplies. They'll have an upcycled craft activity on the day, so you can make something for your pets while picking up some tips on how to handle the waste that comes with them. It's a practical addition to the afternoon, especially if you already have pets at home.
