A celebration of natural hair, Black culture and community in Austin, featuring live music, vendors, education and connection.
Kinky Curly Coily Fest takes over Pershing Hall on Sunday, July 26, a full day dedicated to natural hair, Black culture, and community right here in Austin. It's built around live music, vendors, education, and connection, and the whole thing is open to all ages, so you can bring the kids along.
The musical lineup is a long one, with Sunhi, Alyssa Harris, Cherri, Essynce, Project BabyJV, Shxwn Fresh, Emani Sings, Chris Teague, Soto The Activist, and Rose Short all scheduled to play. Between the sets, there's more than just music: free haircuts and free loc consultations are running throughout the day, and live Q&A panels let you hear from people in the community and get your own questions answered. The vendors bring the shopping side of things, so you can browse while the music goes on around you.

It's a broad day—music, hair care, and conversation all in one spot—and it runs from noon to 7 PM, which gives you plenty of room to drift in and out without feeling like you have to be there for every single minute. KUTX is supporting the event, and since it's all ages, it works as a family outing or just a place to hang out with friends. Pershing Hall is the spot, Sunday, July 26, 12 PM to 7 PM.
