Live country music performance by Jordan Matthew Young and Phil Hollie at The White Horse, a 21+ venue.
Jordan Matthew Young and Phil Hollie play The White Horse on Monday, August 3, with the music running from 7:30 PM to 1 AM. Young takes the first slot from 8 PM to 9:45 PM, and Hollie follows from 10:30 PM to 12:15 AM. It's a double bill that stretches well into the night, so you can catch one or hang around for both.
The White Horse is on Comal Street in East Austin, and it's been a fixture there since Nathan Hill and Denis O'Donnell opened it in December 2011. The two drew on their time managing the Hole in the Wall to build a honky-tonk that helped expand the Eastside music scene. Over the years, it's helped launch modern outlaw country acts like Mike & the Moonpies and Leo Rondeau, and Sundays have long belonged to the local institution Conjunto Los Pinkys.
Inside, the stage is set low, and on busy nights the dance floor fills up with a multi-generational crowd. When it's packed, it can be hard to see the singer from the back, but the room still works the same way it always has. The whole night is 21+.
