Jelly Ellington plays The Far Out Lounge & Stage on Friday, July 24. It's a blues-rock set that pulls from his Texas blues and Appalachian roots, and he's bringing his full band with him.
Ellington's background explains a lot of what you'll hear. He's originally from Asheville, North Carolina, and has lived in Austin for the last nine years. He studied only classical music until he was 14, inspired by the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and Warren Haynes' Christmas Jams, and then went full electric after discovering Led Zeppelin. He moved to Austin in 2011 with the rock band Treetop Sailors and has focused on his solo sound since 2016, sharing the stage with Grammy-winning artists and Texas icons along the way. The Austin Chronicle named him one of the city's ten best guitarists in 2018 and 2019, and he's been featured in the Austin Music Awards.

On stage, he's backed by Alex Geismar on drums, Stefan Ringer on bass, and Cole Gramling on keys. His recorded work includes the album Not All Who Wander Are Lost and the Carolina EP, and he recorded his first live EP at Antone's, one of Austin's most legendary clubs. The show is at The Far Out Lounge & Stage on Friday, July 24.
