DJ battle between Jack Owens and Ben Dubois at the historic Hole in the Wall venue, with a collaborative set at the end.
Jack Owens and Ben Dubois are going head-to-head in a DJ battle at Hole in the Wall on Tuesday, September 15. It's a free night, and the whole thing is 21 and over.
The evening is split into three distinct sets. Ben Dubois takes the decks first at 9 PM, followed by Jack Owens at 10 PM. Then, at 11 PM, the two come together for a collab set, so you get to hear them each on their own before they share the booth. If you're only in the mood for one of them, you can drop in for a single hour; if you stay for the whole run, you'll see how the night builds from individual sets into a joint one.
It's happening at Hole in the Wall, 2538 Guadalupe St., one of Austin's oldest live music spots. It opened in 1974 as a folkie hangout and a favorite stage for Townes Van Zandt, Nanci Griffith, and Blaze Foley, and later became a breeding ground for punk, cosmic country, and alternative, launching the careers of Timbuk3, Fastball, Spoon, and Shakey Graves. The historic two-stage dive still features live music every night and serves as a proving ground for new bands. The room also houses a beer garden and a pinball arcade, and the night is 21 and over.
