Howie Day

Howie Day plays The 04 Center on Saturday, October 3, with Austin's Ruthie Craft opening. Day is a Maine native who now lives in Seattle, and he's been playing since he was a kid — piano at five, guitar at twelve, and writing his own songs by fifteen. He wrote, financed, and released Australia on his own, which went on to be named Best Debut Album at the 2001 Boston Music Awards. From there he signed with Epic Records and put out Stop All The World Now, the album that gave us the four-times platinum single "Collide" and the platinum "She Says," along with a collaboration with Aimee Mann.

Live, he's known for energetic, heartfelt shows. He builds his sound on stage, layering live percussion with vocal harmonies and guitar parts through effects pedals and loop-sampling until he's essentially a one-man band. It's a good way to see how the songs are put together in real time.

Opening the night is Ruthie Craft, an Austin-based cinematic pop artist. She first got national attention on American Idol in 2019 and performed with Keith Urban back in 2015. Her debut EP, Sound of Blue, came out in 2024, and her videos for "Nineteen" and "Just Believe" won Best Music Video at the Austin Spotlight Awards.

Doors open at 7 PM, and the show starts at 8 PM at The 04 Center, 2701 South Lamar Blvd. Tickets start at $61.
