Live music performance by Ben Kenney, formerly of Incubus, with Mimiclou and Nietzche Ke at the 29th Street Ballroom.
Ben Kenney plays the 29th Street Ballroom on Saturday, September 5, with Mimiclou and Nietzche Ke opening. If you know Kenney from his years in Incubus, you've heard him as the bassist for one of the biggest alternative bands of the last few decades. This is a different kind of night: he's the main feature here, and he's bringing two other acts along for the bill.
Howdy Gals is the group putting this together. They're an inclusive, women- and POC-led booking and promotion collective that focuses on keeping live music safe and open for everyone, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, or religion. They run a zero-tolerance policy on threats, violence, abuse, hate speech, and harassment, so it's the kind of room where you can just show up and listen without worrying about the crowd. The show is 21+ only, so keep your ID handy.
With Mimiclou and Nietzche Ke on the bill, the night starts well before Kenney takes the stage. You'll get three acts in one evening rather than just one set. The venue is the 29th Street Ballroom, located at 2906 Fruth Street in Austin, TX 78705.

Doors open at 6 PM, and the music starts at 7 PM. If you're planning on catching the openers, getting there closer to six gives you plenty of time to settle in before the first set kicks off.
