House of Torment

House of Torment is back at 2632 Ridgepoint Dr in Austin, open select nights from September 12 through November 8, 2026. It's the city's legendary Halloween event, and the Travel Channel has called it the scariest haunted house in America. This year, the main attraction is Jason Universe: Survive the Night!, an officially licensed walkthrough haunted house with Jason from the Friday the 13th franchise as the central figure.

There's plenty more to do on the grounds besides the walkthrough. You can throw five axes for $5, try your hand at five-minute Mini Escape Games, or step into the Hades Zombie Simulation. There's also Phobia: Sensory Overload, an immersive experience, and The Nocturne Sanctum, a secret 21+ pop-up bar for when you need a drink after the scares. If you can't get enough, a Respawn Pass lets you ride three of the attractions a second time.

If you go for the VIP experience, you'll leave with a limited-edition Jason Universe: Director's Cut patch. The whole thing is presented by Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group, which they describe as the world's largest Halloween-themed entertainment company, with more than 15 locations.
