An evening of sapphic drag, pole and burlesque performances by House of Deviance and Futch Fetish, marking the kick-off of Austin Pride season.
House of Deviants takes over The Historic Baker School on Sunday, August 2, bringing together House of Deviance and Futch Fetish for a night of sapphic drag, pole, and burlesque. The organizers are billing it as the kick-off of Austin Pride season, so it's one of the first queer celebrations on the calendar this summer.
The lineup is a long one. The Deviant cast includes Atlas Mars, Chola Magnolia, Disco Lemonade, Ewan Danger, Hibiscus Bloom, Jacki + Bex, Kitty McSparkles, MK ULTRA, and Rose Goldfish, with BeeBee Blvnt and Karabiner hosting. Between the drag, the pole, and the burlesque, it's a full evening of performance rather than a single act.
There's a specific intention behind the night, too. The organizers describe it as a tribute to the queer elders of House of Deviance, whose vibrance and solidarity they say could not be stifled even by incarceration, and to the generations who built queer community with everything stacked against them. Because of that, they're framing the whole thing as more than just a party.
